Referee Jasper Robinson has been named as Ghana’s first FIFA Beach Soccer Referee, according to the FIFA list of Referees for 2024. He is now eligible to officiate in CAF Beach Soccer competitions and FIFA Beach Soccer matches in addition to Ghana Beach Soccer games.
Referee Robinson, who hails from Elmina in the Central Region, officiated the 2022 Beach Soccer FA Cup final match and the final match of the Champion of Champions in 2023. He began his Beach Soccer officiating career in 2019/2020 season when he attended the FIFA Beach Soccer Referees Course at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
Prior to that, he officiated in the National U15 league in 2016 and is a referee in the ongoing Access Bank Division One League. Since making Beach Soccer officiating a priority, Referee Robinson has been excellent in all his courses, tests, and matches.
"The Association is excited about this accomplishment of the Referees Department and the progress made, as this opens the development doors for even more of our Beach Soccer referees internationally" stated Prosper Harrison Addo (Esq.), the General Secretary of the Association.
He was full of praise of Mr. Alex Kotey, the Referees Manager, the Beach Soccer fraternity and the Referees Committees of the Association.
The progress made is in line with the development goals for Beach Soccer in GFA Strategic Objectives approved by the Executive Council of the Association and signed off by FIFA.
