Tricky duels for Hearts of Oak, RTU as they face Legon Cities and Nsoatreman Sunday

Former League champions Accra Hearts of Oak, Real Tamale United and champions Medeama SC face tricky duels on Matchday  10 of the Premier League Sunday. Hearts of Oak will play at home against Legon Cities with Real Tamale United and Medeama SC facing Nsoatreman FC and Berekum Chelsea respectively.

Back from their draw against Karela United in Tamale, Accra Hearts of Oak will face Legon Cities at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday. The Phobians are currently unbeaten at home this season having beaten Nsoatreman 1-0, drawn goalless with Dreams FC and FC Samartex as well as the famous 3-1 win over champions Medeama SC.

Meetings between these sides have always been a tough one following three consecutive draws in their last three meetings at the Accra Sports stadium.

Legon Cities sit in 12th place in the League table having won three, drawn two and lost four of their last 9 games in the league. The Royals are winless in their last four away games in the league. 

Hearts of Oak are 10th in the table with 11th points after two wins, two defeats and five draws in their last 9 games.

The last three meetings at the Accra Sports stadium - dating back to the 2020/21 season have ended in a stalemate.

Hearts of Oak drew 1-1 with Legon Cities in the 2021/22 season with their other two meetings in 2021/22 and 2022/23 ending goalless. 

Maartinus Kooman’s Hearts of Oak have struggled for goals since the start of the season with their only source of goals being Hamza Issah.

The diminutive attacker has found the back of the net in the last three games against Bibiani Gold Stars, Medeama SC and Karela United.

Their topsy-turvy form form has culminated in two wins and three draws at home but would count on the likes of Micheal Ampadu, Kofi Agbesimah, Dennis Nkrumah Korsah, Glid Otanga Mvou, Salifu Ibrahim, Martin Karikari and Enock Asubonteng for the three points.

Legon Cities are winless on the road this season and will be hoping to get a good result against the Phobians especially after losing to Medeama SC at home. 

Coach Samuel Fabin has a fully fit squad with the likes of Sulemana Mohammed, Nicholas Mensah, Kwabena Boateng, Frank Antwi, Ebenezer Armegah, Frank Akoto and Nasiru Moro all yearning for a starting berth. 

The game will be broadcast live on StarTimes Adepa channel 247 at 3pm on Sunday.

At the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in Abrankese, new boys Nations FC will battle returnees, Heart of Lions in another tricky duel. Heart of Lions have drawn seven games in the league but have the quality to punish their hosts. The Kpando lads have lost two games and remain the only Premier League side who are yet to record a win after 9 games.

Nations FC sit 17th in the league table with 8 points having won two games, drawn two and lost five of their games.

Elsewhere at Fosu Gyeabuor Park - resurgent Bechem United will host Bofoakwa Tano. With an unbeaten run in their last five games, Bechem United go into the game as favorites. This is their first meeting in Premier League history following the return of the latter after a 17-year absence.

Bechem United seem to have picked the pieces after a poor start to the campaign. The Hunters have managed two wins and three draws in their last five matches and currently sit in 8th place with 12 points, while Bofoakwa Tano have amassed 14 points after one win, three draws and one defeat in their last five matches.

Augustine Okrah has scored four goals for Bechem United and will be leading the attack, with Emmanuel Avornyo, Abdul Karim, Joseph Kinful, Samuel Osei Kuffuor, Seth Kwadwo and Gabriel Tenlep  all available for selection.

Bofoakwa Tano have the likes of Kelvin Oppong, Emmanuel Ankrah, Ali Alhassan, Najib Fuseini, Elijah Addai, club top scorer Saaka Dauda and Clement Ansah also available. 

 At Nsoatre- Nsoatreman FC will face off with Real Tamale United at Nana Koramansah Park. Nsoatreman FC are unbeaten at home this season having won all four games.

Real Tamale United’s only win on the road came against Accra Lions - and they boast of two wins, two losses and one draw in their last five matches. The Tamale lads sit in 13th place with 11 points.

Nsoatreaman FC are currently 2nd in the league table with 16 points having won three, and lost two of their last five games with only two points separating them from leaders Aduana FC who occupy the top spot with 18 points.

The last meeting between them ended 1-0 in favor of Nsoatreaman FC. 

Fresh from their famous 1-0 win against Asante Kotoko, Dreams FC will host Accra Great Olympics at the Theatre of Dreams at Dawu. Accra Great Olympics have lost their last two away games and will be hoping to improve in their game against Dreams FC.

The Dade boys sit in 4th place with 15 points having won three of their last five matches in the league with two losses while Dreams FC sit in 11th place with 11 points having won two and lost three games in their last five matches.

Their last three meetings at Dawu have produced 11 goals - with Dreams FC dominating with two wins and Great Olympics winning one.

Abdul Jalilu, Ebenezer Adade, Abukakar Mohammed, Abuu Enoch, Ishmeal Dede Johgn Antwi, Ofori MaCarthy, TamkoNuhu, Kimgsley Atuahene, Emmanuel Agyei and Abdul Azizi Issah are all available to start for Dreams FC.

Coach Annor Walker will rely on Micheal Osei, Emmanue Antwi, Micheal Yeboah, Oko Grippman, Solomon Adomako, Samuel Ashie Quaye and Rodney Appiah.

Finally on Sunday - Defending champions Medeama SC will battle Berekum Chelsea at Akoon Park.

Chelsea have won one away game in the league against Dreams FC and will be hoping to upset the champions who moved to the third spot after Wednesday’s 1-0 win over Nsoatreman. 

Medeama SC sit have amassed 16 points having won four and lost one of their last five games in the league while Berekum Chelsea have won three and lost two of their last five games.

In their last three meetings at Akoon Park, Berekum Chelsea have drawn once with Medeama SC winning the other two games.

Jean Vital Ourega, Azariah Fodjour, Derrick Fordjour, Nana Kofi Babil, Kofi Asmah, Emmanuel Cudjoe, Nurudeen Abdualai, Jonathan Sowah and Kamaradini Mamudu have looked great in the mauve and yellow colours of Medeama SC and will be looking ahead to another victory at home.

Berekum Chelsea have the likes of Edwin Kuffuor Asamoah, Collins Ameyaw, Awuah Dramani, Mizack Afriyie, Zackaria Fuseini, Yaw Dankwah and Stehen Amankona all available for selection.
