Yahaya Mohammed scored two second half goals as Accra Lions came from behind to beat Nsoatreman FC 2-1 at the WAFA Park in Sogakope on Monday.

Kwabena Adu Meider netted in the first minute of the game to give Nsoatreman FC an early lead after latching onto a pass from Abdul Manaf Umar just 10 seconds into proceedings. The visitors went into the game in search of their first win in three games having lost to Karela United at home and drawn goalless with Heart of Lions on the road.

Adu Meider’s goal unsettled the host as Nsoatreman FC went into the break with a 1-0 lead. Back from recess, Accra Lions improved immensely and took the game to the visitors in search of the equalizer.

Yahaya Mohammed snatched the equalizer with a towering header from Dominic Nsobila’s cross to beat Daniel Afadwu in the 74th minute – much to the relief of the home fans.

The goal gave Accra Lions the impetus to probe for more and their efforts paid off in the 81st minute through Yahaya Mohammed.

The former Tamale City forward dribbled two players in the box before smashing home the winning goal for Lions after receiving an intelligent pass from substitute Fredrick Asante. Yahaya kept his composure and kept his eye on the ball before firing home the winner with his left foot.

The win takes Accra Lions to the 9th spot with 19 points as Nsoatreman FC drops to the 5th position with 24 points – three points behind leaders Aduana FC.

Nsoatremnan FC will host Aduana FC in their next game while Accra Lions travel to Dawu to face Dreams FC at the Theatre of Dreams.
